Health Care Management
Northwood University offers a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Healthcare Management for students who are interested in management services, administration, and leadership of healthcare organizations such as hospitals, doctor offices, and medical insurance offices. Students will learn about the financial, ethical, legal, and economic decisions involved in health care administration and how managers are required to make highly efficient health care decisions in order to properly utilize resources and personnel.
The program emphasizes the role and responsibilities of management with specialization on the duties of mangers in healthcare organizations. Those classes include Economics of Health Care, Organizational Behavior, and Marketing Management for the Health Care Industry.
Upon completion of the program, students should have demonstrated the necessary educational and professional qualifications for roles in management and administration of health care organizations and services. Those qualifications include the ability to demonstrate an extensive and practical knowledge-base of theory, tools, skills, practices, and research related to health care administration, management, and business practices and be able to apply these to the problems and opportunities that are encountered in the contemporary medical environments; to demonstrate effective professional and interpersonal practices essential in management; to develop a range of professional strategies that promote their effectiveness in a medical or health care organization; and to demonstrate the ethical, legal, and responsible behaviors necessary for roles in health care services.
