You can turn your non-education bachelor’s degree into initial teacher certification in Louisiana with the Master of Arts in Teaching / Elementary Education, Grades 1-5 from NSU. This online teaching program meets the requirements for “highly qualified” educator.

The online elementary education master’s degree provides instruction in educational research, evaluation, and instructional design. Other study topics include:

  • Research in curriculum and instruction
  • Educational philosophy and leadership
  • Instructional methodology
  • Diagnosis and correction of reading disabilities

Upon completion of the online elementary education coursework, candidates must pass the PRAXIS II pedagogy exam. Only then may they enroll in the internship to gain hands-on experience.
