Program Details

The online Associate of General Studies is a liberal arts degree from Northwestern State University of Louisiana.  Whether you are starting your education or want to expand your general knowledge and skill level, this liberal arts degree provides a well-rounded foundation for future studies, career opportunities, and individual growth.  The curriculum combines English, mathematics, natural sciences, humanities, fine arts, social sciences, and university studies.  Students complete general education courses for the majority of the degree but also complete a group concentration for 18 hours and then 9 hours in a designated academic enrichment group, allowing them to explore a wide variety of topics and then complete additional coursework in the area that is of most interest to them.  

In addition to providing a broad liberal arts foundation, this program also equips you with transfer opportunities into four-year institutions.
