Bachelor of Arts in Accounting
Northwest Christian University offers a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting for students interested in learning the principles and procedures of accounting, either to work as an accountant, or for the utilization of the knowledge of accounting for management or entrepreneurship. Students will study the fundamentals of accounting for personal and individual accounting, as well roles and responsibilities of accountants within a business or organizational structure.
Through the program, students will have the potential to increase their understanding of accounting principles and procedures as through the applications of accounting and the purposes and functions of business. The curriculum consists of classes which include federal income taxation, principles of accounting, and principles of management and leadership.
Successful graduates should be able to exhibit the necessary abilities and qualifications of professionals in accounting, which include understanding of the basic principles used in business and organizations, understanding of the basic economic principles, understanding of marketing concepts and the application of marketing concepts by profit-seeking firms, and understanding U.S. monetary and fiscal policies and how it is used to stabilize or stimulate the U.S. economy.
In addition, students may learn to utilize computer and electronic technology in professional capacities, the ability to read, create, and understand graphical information, utilize the ability to analyze economic events, and to demonstrate basic management principles in order to obtain employment related to accounting.
