Northland Community and Technical College offers an Associate of Science degree in Business for students who are interested in careers in business and want to develop the skills and knowledge necessary for future studies in business as well as introductory and entry-level managerial roles in businesses. Through the program, students may develop an understanding of the functions and roles of business, and display their understanding of finance, accounting, economics, and other factors that affect the success of administration of a business. Upon completion, students will have learned a foundation in leadership and managerial skills which are needed to effectively manage people, organizations and technology.
This program is the basis for advanced studies in business by providing the foundations necessary for future education. The curriculum consists of 60 credit hours of courses which include supervisory leadership, introduction to computer technology, and introduction to business.
Successful graduates of the business program should be able to exhibit understanding of the basic concepts of business and economics, to summarize the types of companies that comprise the world of business, and explain business interdependence and competition, and understanding of business trends of globalization and e-commerce.
Furthermore, students will be expected to demonstrate understanding of the role of business and economics in promoting social responsibility and ethical behavior, the ability to solve business and economic problems, and the use of critical thinking capabilities in solution of business and economic problems.

Founded in 1949, Northland Community and Technical College has a main campus located in Thief River Falls, Minnesota and a secondary campus located in East Grand Forks, Minnesota, along with the Aerospace Campus and Roseau Satellite Site. Northland is a two-year, public institution that works in partnership with Minnesota State Colleges and Universities to establish and promote transfer agreements into four-year programs.
Northland offers associate's degrees and certificates, many of which can be earned completely online through the Online Learning department.
