Program Overview

Northland Community and Technical College offer an Associate of Arts degree in Social and Behavioral Sciences for students interested in studying social sciences. The program forms the basis for education in which individuals will prepare for careers in fields such as sociology, psychology, political science, and anthropology. Students will design individualized major combining courses from any two or three social science areas depending on their interests. As such, students will study topics such as anthropology, economics, history, political science, psychology, and sociology. Upon completion of the program, students will be prepared to transfer to a bachelor’s program, be prepared for entry-level careers in social care and social sciences, and be prepared for higher education needed for advanced careers in social sciences.

    Founded in 1949, Northland Community and Technical College has a main campus located in Thief River Falls, Minnesota and a secondary campus located in East Grand Forks, Minnesota, along with the Aerospace Campus and Roseau Satellite Site. Northland is a two-year, public institution that works in partnership with Minnesota State Colleges and Universities to establish and promote transfer agreements into four-year programs.

    Northland offers associate's degrees and certificates, many of which can be earned completely online through the Online Learning department.
