Program Details

The online Graduate Certificate in Emergency Management program provides students and those currently practicing in the field with the knowledge, skills, and competencies to manage and lead in emergency management.  The curriculum offers fundamental managerial and analytical skills in the areas of emergency management, homeland security, and other areas of public safety as it increases knowledge about how the various agencies involved in these areas work, including their policies and programs.  Students learn about the four phases of emergency management for both natural and man-made disasters: mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery, and how each phase develops at the different levels and in different organizations.  You will also learn about the different types of terrorism and to identify their causes and prevention strategies.
