Program Details

The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD-Psy) program was designed in response to the growing interest in psychology as a discipline of study and the need for advanced studies, including research beyond the master's level. This degree program emphasizes theory, research, and scholarship, culminating in a dissertation.

The Addictions specialization prepares mental health practitioners to develop knowledge and expertise in the area of substance abuse, addictions and addictive behaviors. You will explore the dynamics of substance abuse and dependence including drugs, alcohol and marijuana, with an emphasis on assessment and treatment planning. You will also examine research related to addictions and compulsive behaviors, as well as co-occurring disorders.
