Program Details
The online Certificate in Health Information in Medical Coding prepares students with the necessary skills to be employed as medical coders in coding and reimbursement in a variety of health care settings, including hospitals, clinics, home health agencies, long-term care, and insurance companies. Students learn to review medical documentation, using classification system software and assigning medical codes which are used for billing, research, statistics, reporting, and administrative purposes. The curriculum studies coding guidelines in detail, as well as concepts in insurance and reimbursement, including payment systems.
