Program Details

The Master of Materials Science & Engineering degree at NC State University is offered in distance education for students who are already employed but are looking to further their education. Students will gain a greater understanding of materials, structures, and processing methods.


  • BS degree in Materials Science and Engineering (MSE), another field of engineering or a related technical discipline such as chemistry or physics
  • Have a minimum overall undergraduate grade point average of 3.0
  • Have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 in the last 60 semester hours of undergraduate work
  • Provide three letters of recommendation
