Program Overview

The Hospitality and Tourism Management program offered by the New Hampshire Technical Institution’s school Concord’s Community College is a program of study that is available to students in a completely online format. Upon completing this program, a student is awarded the Associate in Science in Hospitality and Tourism Management. There is a growing and expanding need for qualified and trained individuals to work in the hospitality and tourism industry. Along with courses that are directly related to Hospitality and Tourism, this program also offers students business related courses in order to help students acquire management competencies. There are many opportunities for growth in this industry especially in the state of New Hampshire.

The curriculum of the Hospitality and Tourism Management program aims to help prepare students for professional positions in fields like hotels, conference centers, sales and marketing, guest services, tourism associations, travel agencies, airlines, and other attractions. Students learn competencies related to sales, customer service, relationship marketing, communications, accounting, and legal issues related to Hospitality and Tourism Management. Students are offered the chance to receive certificates in Hotel Administration, Event and Conference Management, Tourism Information Technology, and Travel and Tourism. This program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs.

This program requires students to take and complete 66 credit hours of courses in order to receive the Associate in Science in Hospitality and Tourism Management degree. General Education is a part of the requirements for this program. Students are required to take Topics in Applied College Mathematics, PC Applications, Statistics or Finite Mathematics, English Compositions, Introduction to Psychology, a Social Science elective, Humanities or Fine Arts or Foreign Language elective, Communications or an English Elective, a History Elective, a Lab Science elective, and two General Electives. The required courses related to Hospitality and Tourism Management include: Introduction to Hospitality and Tourism, Domestic and International Tourism Geography, Accounting, Principles of Marketing, Communications, Quality Service Management, Business Law or Legal Issues for the Hospitality Industry, Information Technology for the Tourism Industry, Hospitality and Tourism, and three Hospitality and Tourism electives.

    School Overview

    NHTI was opened in 1965 under the name New Hampshire Technical Institute with three engineering technology programs. In 2008, the name of the College was changed to NHTI, Concord's Community College. This name honors our past and reflects our growth to a comprehensive community college. NHTI is situated in south central New Hampshire in the capital city of Concord.

    The college offers associate's degrees and certificates, several of which are offered fully or partly online. Individual courses are offered online or in hybrid formats.
