The online Associate of Arts & Sciences in Education from New River Community College is a transfer degree. This program is designed for individuals who want to pursue a bachelor’s degree at a four-year institution. With a broad curriculum, students are able to earn their general education requirements and then transfer into the baccalaureate program of their choice at a higher level than the traditional freshman. In addition to a strong liberal arts foundation, you will study a pre-teacher education curriculum that is designed for those planning careers in Elementary Pre-K to 6 or Middle Education 6-8 in Special Education. For students who plan to teach in Middle Education 6-8 in a subject other than Special Education, the major must be in the academic subject they plan to teach.
