Certificate in Finance for Managers
The Certificate in Finance for Managers at New Jersey Institute of Technology is designed to provide knowledge and skills in business, finance, marketing, accounting and management information systems. Emphasis is put on learning how to analyze and apply core business concepts to strategic problems.
Courses are offered completely online or on NJIT's campus in Newark, New Jersey. NJIT is located in the University Heights neighborhood of Newark, New Jersey. It is an accredited public research university, established in 1881. Students who choose the online option for course completion enjoy an interactive educational experience with live chatting, discussion boards and threads with professors and classmates.
The Certificate in Finance for Managers program requires students to complete 12 credit hours of course work, taking an average of one year to complete. Program courses include, Management Accounting, Financial and Economic Environment, Financial Management, International Finance, Mergers, Acquisitions, and Restructuring. In Management Accounting students will learn traditional concepts of profit planning and transfer pricing and develop skills in strategic cost analysis.
In the Financial and Economic Environment course, students will learn and discuss issues involved with interest rates, inflation, fiscal and monetary policy, regulatory policy, pricing policy, and risk-return opportunities, as well as others. In Financial Management students will learn about financial ratio analysis, financial planning, financial statement analysis as well as capital budgeting and other capital management concepts and terms. The International Finance course reviews the financing of exports and imports, managing multi-currency work, international capital budgeting and other international business-related topics. Finally, the Mergers, Acquisition and Restructuring course offers an in depth look at mergers and acquisitions of international companies.
In order to apply for admission into the certificate program, prospective students must have a bachelor's degree with at least a grade point average of 2.8.
