The Certificate in Engineering Leadership at New Jersey Institute of Technology is designed to prepare its graduate to become effective and successful leaders in the business and technical world. Program curriculum focuses on finance, global marketing, management, new based communication, legal issues, and sustainability issues. Students are able to either take all courses completely online or on NJIT's campus. New Jersey Institute of Technology boasts a qualified faculty: approximately 98 percent of professors hold the highest degree possible in their respected fields.
Courses offered for the Certificate in Engineering Leadership at NJIT are diverse, deriving from four different colleges of study. Students take courses from the Newark College of Engineering, College of Computer Sciences, College of Science and Liberal Arts, and the School of Management. Of the four colleges aforementioned, the Newark College of Engineering is one of the oldest engineering schools in the United States. Graduates have gone on to become leaders in fields such as television, telecommunications, aerospace, electronics, plastics, and environmental engineering.
Students must complete 12 credit hours from the following courses in order to meet graduation requirements: Competing in Global Markets, Cost Estimating for Capital Projects, Legal, Ethical or Intellectual Property Issues for Engineering Managers, Sustainable Development, Advanced Professional and Technical Communication, Management of Technology, Project Management, Management Science, and IT Service Management.
In terms of admission requirements, prospective students must hold an undergraduate degree in engineering, the sciences or a related area of study in order to apply. Additionally, there is no minimum grade point average needed in order to apply.

The New Jersey Institute of Technology has incorporated a “four-pronged mission of education, research, service and economic development” in order to prepare students for the twenty-first century. Founded in New Jersey, in 1881, this public institution enrolls over seven thousand undergraduate and nearly three thousand graduate students. The tradition of research and development has continued with the birth of its distance learning courses. NJIT professors created and trademarked the “Virtual Classroom” phrase in the 1970s.
Today, NJIT offers students the opportunity to finish bachelor’s degrees and complete master’s degrees and graduate certificates online.
