MA in Theological Studies
Multnomah University offers a Master of Arts degree in Theological Studies for students who want to develop their responsibilities and opportunities in leadership by studying the theological and historical aspects of Christianity and the Bible. The program offers an advanced standing option for those who have experience in biblical studies and theology. For the advanced track, students are required to have a minimum of 36 credit hours in Bible, theology, and Bible related subjects in traditional areas of systematic theology.
The program consists of theological and historical understanding of Christianity and the Bible, which consists of 60 credit hours of classes as part of the curriculum. Classes include principals of spiritual formation, methods of theological research, and contemporary theology and ethics.
Students completing the program will have demonstrated mastery of theological studies with qualifications that include foundational knowledge of the content of Scripture within its cultural and historical context, competence and understanding the Word of God by utilizing basic methods of biblical interpretation, knowledge of theology and Christian doctrines, and to demonstrate knowledge of the history of Christianity. In addition, students will know how to effectively communicate the message of Christianity in various cultural contexts, integration of theological reflection and practice, and the ability to promote a biblical and theological understanding of the person, work and ministry.
