Program Details

The online Payroll Specialist Certificate of Completion program from Montgomery County Community College is designed to prepare students for payroll positions in small to medium sized firms. All courses may be applied toward the Associate Degree in Accounting, and students completing this certificate are prepared to pass the national certification exam to obtain the American Payroll Association's (APA) Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) designation. Graduates possess the knowledge and skills needed to:

  • Create financial statements, performing each step in double entry accounting
  • ​Prepare all calculations, entries, and reports for a complete payroll cycle
  • ​Prepare quarterly and year-end payroll tax returns
