Master of Science in Education / Literacy

Program Details

The online Master of Science in Education with a specialization in Literacy program provides knowledge in teaching reading.  The program prepares students to be competent teachers of reading from kindergarten through grade 12.  Graduates are qualified to teach Title I students, become literacy coaches, and supervise reading programs.  Courses may include Relationship of Language to Literacy and Intellectual Development, Content Area Literacy, Diversity Issues in Literacy and Content Area Instruction, and Techniques of Responsive Support in the Literacy Classroom.

Requirements

  • Official transcripts of all undergraduate course work
  • Letter of intent
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • Appropriate teacher certificate or eligibility for certification by a state or national board
  • Minimum 3.00 GPA for courses taken in undergraduate study
