Program Details

The online Undergraduate Certificate in Broadcast Meteorology program prepares students for careers in radio and television weathercasting but does not meet the requirements for the American Meteorological Society’s Certified Broadcast Meteorologist Seal of Approval. The curriculum includes courses in both meteorology and communications, so students are prepared to understand and deliver the weather forecast. Courses in communications include public speaking, theater, mass media, voice and articulation, TV production, broadcast performance, and news writing. Courses in meteorology include weather and climate, weather forecasting, various meteorology courses, and various climatology courses.
