Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education / Early Childhood or Middle School (PreK-6)
Mississippi State University

Program Details

Mississippi State University offers an online early childhood education degree, the Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, with concentrations in either Early Childhood or Middle School. This program prepares students with the foundation needed to instruct children in PreK through sixth grade, leading them to elementary licensure in the state of Mississippi in one of the concentrations. Those from other states may still complete the program but are responsible for determining the requirements for a teaching license in their states. At the core of this program is the belief that education is the primary vehicle for equity and justice, and, in support of this belief, the research-extensive curriculum is committed to academic excellence, intellectual rigor, and lifelong learning. Courses provide in-depth knowledge of content and teaching practices while teaching you to use theory, research, technology, and various other tools as a means of enhancing your students’ learning experience.

At MSU the faculty is dedicated to providing current and evidence-based practices during innovative and engaging courses taught mostly by full-time MSU faculty. Distance students will have the same courses, assignments, and requirements as those completing the degree on-campus with the added benefits of schedule flexibility and being able to complete field experiences and internships in or near their hometowns.
