The Business: Management, Marketing and Sales Diploma at Minnesota State Community and Technical College gives students the skills and knowledge to begin their education and careers in business. Students will take courses to build their skills needed in several careers in the sales, marketing, and management fields. Courses include topics such as sales, research, customer service, and small business planning while emphasizing the development of skills in managerial decision-making, communication, technology, and solving problems. Students will also be able to apply what they’ve learned throughout the program to various career outlets.
Requiring 70 credits, upon completion of the program students will be able to use strategies in communication for various audiences and contexts, use technology to achieve goals, and apply fundamental marketing and sales techniques. Students will have the potential to be able to demonstrate professionalism, interpersonal skills, and leadership. Other skills include knowledge in bookkeeping, math, economics, and financial and cultural forces that influence business.
Students may be required to take developmental courses in reading, math, and writing in order to prepare them for education on a college level; whether these classes are required is determined by the student’s score on the Accuplacer assessment. Those who complete this program will be ready for entry-level positions in a variety of fields including retail, wholesale, and other service-related enterprises. Students who wish to continue their education in a related field at a baccalaureate institution are advised to consult a counselor to ensure the transferability of the courses to the intended college or university.

Minnesota State Community and Technical College (“M State”) is a two-year public institution of higher education, located in the city of Fergus Falls, Minnesota. Students can enroll in courses at M State’s campuses in Detroit Lakes, Fergus Falls, Moorhead and Wadena. The Fergus Falls campus has a liberal arts focus, and about 75 percent of its students transfer to four-year colleges and universities after they attend M State.
M State offers associate's degree and certificate programs. Many students at M State choose to complete the first two years of their bachelor's degree by earning a University Transfer degree at any of the or online through eCampus. M State’s eCampus offers over 25 programs and majors that can be completed entirely online.
