The Business Entrepreneurship Associate of Applied Science degree at Minnesota State Community and Technical College gives students the skills and knowledge to begin careers in a business enterprise. Students will gain a basic knowledge of business processes, functions, and understanding of business organizations in the current global economy with an emphasis on entrepreneurship and creating start-up companies. Classes include various business concepts such as financial accounting and business law and regulations. There will also be classes on technology, such as accounting software applications and an introduction to computers. Students who wish to grow an existing business or pursue an advanced degree will also benefit from this program.
Requires 62 credit hours, upon receiving the degree, students can gain entry-level employment opportunities in any number of sectors, including government agencies, financial institutions, and large-to-small business or industry. This degree is also ideal for those interested in started a company, whether it is a solo business or a large undertaking with other employees. Students may be required to take developmental courses in reading, math, and writing in order to prepare them for education on a college level; whether these classes are required is determined by the student’s score on the Accuplacer assessment. Students who wish to continue their education in a related field at a baccalaureate institution are advised to consult a councilor to ensure the transferability of the courses to the intended college or university.
Entrepreneurs are categorized as individuals who take new ideas and innovations, such as products or finance/business practices, and transform them into goods and services in order to make money. Starting a new business is the most common form of entrepreneurship and can be attributed to both small and large enterprises. Entrepreneurship is important for economic growth, providing employment, and moving forward with new concepts and innovations in an ever-changing business environment.

Minnesota State Community and Technical College (“M State”) is a two-year public institution of higher education, located in the city of Fergus Falls, Minnesota. Students can enroll in courses at M State’s campuses in Detroit Lakes, Fergus Falls, Moorhead and Wadena. The Fergus Falls campus has a liberal arts focus, and about 75 percent of its students transfer to four-year colleges and universities after they attend M State.
M State offers associate's degree and certificate programs. Many students at M State choose to complete the first two years of their bachelor's degree by earning a University Transfer degree at any of the or online through eCampus. M State’s eCampus offers over 25 programs and majors that can be completed entirely online.
