Program Details

The online Associate of Applied Science in Health Information Technology/Coding trains students to become important members of healthcare teams, preparing them to secure, analyze, integrate, and manage health information for patient care.  Courses also teach students about planning, marketing, reimbursement, research, legal areas, verifying health information data and sources, using various coding systems, quality management, statistics, and reviewing external agencies.  Students also learn to enforce patient confidentiality, maintain filing and retrieval systems, use departmental policies and procedures, show professionalism, and about the importance of the AHIMA Code of Ethics.
