Milwaukee Area Technical College is currently offering a Computerized Accounting Assistant technical degree program. This online program will prepare students to work in a support role alongside of financial specialists in a variety of business settings.
This online degree focuses on both basic accounting skills and using specific accounting technology. Students will learn how to create and maintain financial ledgers both digitally and on paper. In addition, students will be taught how to analyze financial information to assist in making business decisions. A wide range of accounting duties will be explored, from payroll to tax preparation. Students will learn how to use research skills to create cost analyst reports and complete other financial reporting duties.
This program consists of a total of 26 credit hours of classes. This program is typically completed in under a year. All classes are administered through Milwaukee Area Technical College’s eLearning system, which allows for easy communication between students and instructors. Students will be able to complete all assignments from their own personal computer. This program is meant as a technical degree and not an accredited undergraduate degree. Students who are interested in achieving an associate's degree may be able to transfer previously earned credits into an AAS in Accounting at Milwaukee Area Technical College.
This degree program provides skills that are focused on an accounting assistant position. However, this program can also be useful for students who are interested in administrative roles, banking and financial services, and bookkeeper positions, among others. Students should be advised that many accounting positions require an undergraduate degree for consideration.

Milwaukee Area Technical College is a public, two-year institution of higher education, located in the city of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. MATC was founded in 1912 as the Continuation School after Charles McCarthy asked State Legislature to pass a law creating a statewide network of continuation schools. Today, MATC offers classes at campuses in downtown Milwaukee, Oak Creek, West Allis, and Mequon. The Mequon Campus features the largest wind turbine on a college campus in the state.
Milwaukee Area Technical College offers degree, diploma, certificate and apprentice programs. Many students who attend MATC plan to earn a bachelor’s degree by transferring to a four-year college. Accelerated programs are offered for full-time working adults, as well as online programs for degrees, diplomas, and certificates from all of MATC's schools.
