Students who are looking to be quickly trained in basic office systems may wish to consider Mid Michigan Community College’s Certificate of Achievement in Business Information Systems. This program is available completely online and can be completed in 30 weeks. This allows students who are working full time and need training, to receive it swiftly. This program will give students a full education on using the information systems most commonly found in office environments. Students will become well-trained in a range of word processing software, and learn how to write professionally and with clear communication. This program also includes an education in database and record management systems. Graduates exit the program with a clear understanding of how offices operate and the issues that face most office workers. Individuals will take math classes to be able to skillfully handle basic financial tasks as well.
The curriculum consists of 31 credit hours of classes. Classes will be divided between a fall and winter semester. Classes are a combination of composition, business foundations and software training. Examples of classes include: Office Mathematics, Intro to Information Systems, Business Communications, Records Management, Applied Office Accounting and Fundamentals of Communication. All classes will be available in an online format that allows working students to complete their education on their own time schedule. Online courses have the same assignments and level of quality as on-campus courses. Students will be able to actively communicate with their online instructors on a regular basis. Students will have to complete a few courses on the college’s campus in Harrison, MI.
