Program Details

Mid-America Christian University is currently offering a Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration. This degree program give students an intensive and complete education in how to effectively lead and manage in a university, college or other higher education institution. Students will examine the foundations of higher education such as student activities, residence life, admissions, service learning, orientation, career services, and academic education. Graduates will leave with an understanding of advanced academic theory and how education policy affects students, faculty and its surrounding community. Mid-America Christian University includes a focus in Christian values with this program. Students will learn how Christian culture and ethics fits into the current higher education landscape. Specific attention is paid on how to integrate Christian values into a broad range of institutional leadership roles and responsibilities.

Students in this program will be able to complete this degree program with high levels of flexibility. Because it is offered in both an accredited and online format, students will be able to quickly earn their degree while continuing to work full-time. Students can expect to complete a total of 34 credit hours of online classes. These classes will cover topics such as higher education law, education history, theology, administration and leadership. Students will also complete a year-long research project that will give them practical experience to use immediately in an administrative career. All classes are taught by experienced online instructors.  All students will work closely with an academic mentor who will guide them through the program and offer applicable advice for their future career.

To be admitted into this program, students must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university, earned with a grade point average of 2.75 or higher.
