Public Relations and communication are one of the necessary pillars of business in today’s world. Individuals interested in learning how to communicate effectively may wish to consider Mid-America Christian University’s Bachelors of Communication and Public Relations degree program. This program looks at emerging technologies and how they fit into the communications landscape. This degree will prepare students to use public relations techniques within corporate, government, agency and non-profit settings. Students will learn public relations theory and industry-specific concepts that will help develop their public speaking, presentation and interviewing skills. This degree seeks to empower students on how to make communication campaigns that have a foundation of Christian values and ethics.
The curriculum for this program consists of 49 credit hours. Classes will include a mix of business, public speaking and communication. Examples of classes are: Media Effects, Intercultural Communication, Interpersonal Communication, Writing for Mass and Social Media, Social Influence, and Political Communication in the Digital Age. All classes are administered by experienced Christian instructors through a completely online format. Students will learn on a weekly schedule that works best for them and takes into account their full-time professional scheduling needs.
To be admitted into this program, individuals must be at least 22 years of age. This program only includes the core public relations major classes. Students must have at least 49 credit hours of lower general education courses already completed. Students have the option to complete general education credits through one of Mid-America Christian University’s many associate's degree programs.

The university first opened in 1953 as the South Texas Bible Institute in Houston, Texas. By 1955, the school offered a four-year degree and changed its name to the Gulf Coast Bible College. Today Mid-America Christian University is a four-year, private not-for-profit liberal arts institution. Associated with the Church of God, Mid-America Christian’s mission statement “prepares students through a Wesleyan perspective to create, collaborate, and innovate to solve local and global problems for the glory of God through Jesus Christ and the good of society.”
MACU offers Bible-based liberal programs and ministry education, extending more than 25 fields of study for graduates and undergraduates. The school offers certificates, associate’s degrees, bachelor’s degrees, and master’s degrees. Students have the option to complete degrees delivered online, offered through once-weekly accelerated formats, or hybrid sessions. Online coursework is available for first-time students, returning students and graduate programs. Online degree programs offer certificates, associate’s degrees, bachelor’s degrees, and master’s degrees.
