Program Details

The online Doctor of Philosophy in Mechanical Engineering degree, with a specialization in Engineering Mechanics is a research-intensive program designed to give students an education in environmental, industrial, and societal sustainability.  The curriculum includes research on lean manufacturing and design for sustainability; the production of cellulose based ethanol from forest resources; optimization of ethanol-based power systems; and alternative-energy technologies including hydrogen, wing, and micro- and macro-fuel cells.  The program involves researchers from engineering, the physical and life sciences, and business.
