Miami Dade College offers a College Credit Certificate Business Management with a specialization in Small Business for students who are interested in developing the skills and the knowledge of business, entrepreneurship, and technology in order to understand the processes and steps in innovation and developing a new enterprise. Students will learn about technology and business and the process of starting a technology-based venture. Students will develop a real-world and multidisciplinary approach to solving technical challenges and developing new products to meet consumer and business demand.
Through the certificate, students will receive specialized education in the aspects necessary for small business management. Those classes include principles of business, principles of management, business mathematics, business writing, college algebra, business calculus, financial accounting, principles of accounting, financial accounting lab, principles of marketing, small business management, and introduction to microcomputer usage.
Through completion of the program, students will have demonstrated the professionalism and skill necessary to earn the degree. Through these qualities, students completing the program are qualified to operate or work with small businesses. These qualifications include but are not limited to: the ability to demonstrate knowledge of management, marketing, and financial management of entrepreneurial ventures, to demonstrate knowledge of sound business principles in developing and evaluating ideas for business startup and expansion, to demonstrate the ability to prepare and evaluate a business plan, and to develop practical experience through program internships or job-related assignments.
