Program Overview

Miami Dade College offers an Associate of Science degree in International Business for students who are interested in globalization and how business has been affected by the process of opening up borders and creation of trade agreements. Due to businesses taking up production all over the world, with every part of the supply chain being stretched between different global locations, business managers need to be aware of international issues in business, finance, and how to work with a multicultural labor force. Students will learn how international and multinational businesses operate and how they adapt to diverse business and production climates.

Students will learn about the fundamentals of international business as well as the principles of business operation and management. Those classes include psychology of personal effectiveness, basics business statistics, financial accounting, principles of accounting, business law, legal environment, principles of economics, principles of business, principles of management, principles of marketing, business writing, introduction to international business, managing a multicultural environment, international financial management, and international marketing.

Students will develop the basic professional qualifications for international business and international management. These qualifications include but are not limited to: the ability to demonstrate proficiency in the fundamental business principles and practices that enable firms to operate in both domestic and global environments, to employ critical-thinking and analysis skills to solve business problems in a real-world context, to analyze ethical issues that impact business decisions from economic, political, legal, and social perspectives, to describe the ways in which diversity influences a company’s ability to achieve its goals, and to evaluate the application of technology as a strategy for competitive advantage in business.

    Miami Dade College is a four-year public school located in Miami, Florida. MDC was founded in 1959 as Dade County Junior College and is now the largest college in the Florida College System and the second largest in the United States. Miami Dade has eight campuses and 21 outreach centers located throughout the Miami Dade County.

    Miami Dade College offers more than 150 programs that lead to certificates of completion, associate’s degrees, and bachelor’s degrees. Classes are offered during the daytime, evening, and weekend, as well as online. MDC offers fully online degrees at each level.
