Program Overview

Miami Dade College offers an Associate of Science degree in Business Administration for students who are interested in careers in business and want to develop the foundational skills and knowledge required for studying advanced and specialized topics in business. Students will learn about the different aspects and operations in business, as well as the skills necessary to manage those operations, and develop the fundamental skills necessary in order to act in a professional manner.

The program consists of classroom courses which emphasize the study of business principles necessary for fundamental understanding of the roles and responsibilities of managers and administrators. Those classes include English composition, fundamentals of speech communication, critical thinking and ethics, psychology of personal effectiveness, basic business statistics, business calculus, college algebra, financial accounting, principles of accounting, business law, legal environment, principles of business, managerial accounting, principles of management, principles of marketing, introduction to microcomputer usage, business writing, principles of macroeconomics, principles of microeconomics, public relations, and history of economic ideas and their consequences.  

Upon completing the program, students will have demonstrated the fundamental qualifications necessary for professional roles in management. Students will learn to utilize their knowledge to develop experience in the business world in order to function as entry-level management.  These qualifications include but are not limited to: the ability to demonstrate proficiency in the business functions that enable firms to operate and produce a profit while staying in business, to develop business knowledge and critical thinking capability necessary for the tasks and responsibilities of business, to understand the objects of a business from a legal, ethical, economic and financial perspective, and to evaluate the application of technology as a strategy for competitive advantage in business.

    Miami Dade College is a four-year public school located in Miami, Florida. MDC was founded in 1959 as Dade County Junior College and is now the largest college in the Florida College System and the second largest in the United States. Miami Dade has eight campuses and 21 outreach centers located throughout the Miami Dade County.

    Miami Dade College offers more than 150 programs that lead to certificates of completion, associate’s degrees, and bachelor’s degrees. Classes are offered during the daytime, evening, and weekend, as well as online. MDC offers fully online degrees at each level.
