Metropolitan State University offers a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Organizational Administration degree for students who are interested in developing the fundamental skill set needed to take on a role in business. Students will learn about the functions of business, including marketing, human resources, information systems, accounting, and finance and how businesses operate by utilizing the skills of their workers. By completing the program, students will have demonstrated the ability to take on roles in entry-level administration positions in a variety of organizations.
The program consists of classwork which is necessary to develop as an organizational administrator by preparing them for the business responsibilities and general business structural knowledge in order to function in that role. Those classes include college algebra, statistics, financial accounting, macroeconomics, microeconomics, fundamentals of information technology in organizations, introduction to operations management, principles of finance, management principles and practices, principles of management information systems, marketing principles, case studies in strategic management, and challenges and choices in small businesses and entrepreneurship.
Upon completing the program, students will have demonstrated the qualifications necessary to function as an organizational administrator. The qualifications demonstrate that the student has been able to apply the principles they have learned in the program into their eventual development as a functional affective professional in their field. These qualifications include but are not limited to the ability to demonstrate organizational, communication, and critical thinking skills key to management positions, to demonstrate the preparation necessary for positions in business, nonprofit organizations, and government, including supervisor, department manager, or agency director, and to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of organizational structures necessary to function in a variety of private, nonprofit, and government organizations.
