Bachelor of Science in Marketing
Metropolitan State University offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing for students who want to understand business markets and how to advertise and relate products to their customers in order to promote the success of a business or organization. Students will learn about how product and business marketing is broken into a number of steps or categories and how to utilize knowledge of markets, brand advertising, product development, research, and focused strategies. Through the program, students will learn to build brand value by making marketing decisions such as market identification, messaging strategy, and choices in media, determining the success of a marketing campaign.
Students will focus on a curriculum that involves developing the different aspects of marketing, such as advertising, media, and communications. Those classes include marketing principles, management principles and practices, principles of management information systems, principles of finance, introduction to operations management, case studies in strategic management, consumer and professional buying behavior, integrated marketing communications, marketing research, international marketing, issues in marketing, marketing and advertising law, travel and tourism marketing, sales and sales management, sports and entertainment marketing, supply chain management, and business to business marketing.
Students will develop their skills to develop careers in advertising and marketing. Through completion of the program, they will have demonstrated the qualities necessary to function as qualified professionals in marketing. These qualifications include but are not limited to the ability to study the demographic, psychological, social, economic, technological, and environmental factors that influence consumer demands, to demonstrate the skills necessary to analyze consumer and professional buyer behavior, to demonstrate the ability to conduct and analyze market research, and to demonstrate understanding of current issues in marketing.
