Metropolitan State University offers a Doctor of Business Administration degree for professionals in business and in education who want to conduct research and develop policy and practice for use in business. Students will learn about advanced decision making and leadership skills required for students to be successful, ethical business leaders in complex and variable organizations. They will develop the talents and education necessary for demanding positions in business management, higher education teaching, and management consulting.
The program consists of advanced research in business topics relating to theoretical aspects of business as well as research topics relating to business practice and policy. Those classes include doctoral seminar in the development of management thought, foundations of research inquiry, accounting and financial policy seminar, research methods for applied projects, information technology issues and strategies, global issues in business with multi-disciplinary approaches, applied research project design, advanced strategic management seminar, teaching business in higher education, professional consulting in business, and current topics in business.
Students will demonstrate the highest of qualifications upon completing this program, demonstrating their mastery of advanced topics in business as well as their capability to perform research and develop policy for business. These qualifications include but are not limited to the ability to assess the relevance of current and emerging business theory and practice from an interdisciplinary perspective, to formulate and execute effective solutions to complex, real-world problems common to the practice of business and management, to apply the current research literature from business and management to practical problems found in business and management, to design and conduct rigorous research that contributes to the professional body of knowledge on business and management, to clearly communicate with stakeholders about problem statements, research approaches and results, solutions, and assessment, and to explain their ethical responsibilities as a member of the business community and citizens in society.
