Program Overview

The online MS in Psychology degree program is designed to extend students’ knowledge of psychology in general, as well as to provide specific experiences in psychology graduate education to fit their individual interests. Coursework covers all aspects of advanced psychological study, including theory, history, ethics, methodology, and clinical practice, and prepares students for employment in the field as well as eventual doctoral study.

    Requirements

    Bachelor’s degree with a major in psychology, sociology, behavioral science, or education. Students are required to have completed an undergraduate statistics and 12 undergraduate credits in psychology with a grade of B or higher. In special cases other majors will be accepted. Two written letters of recommendation. Interview with the program director or the associate director. A three to five page essay of the applicant’s reasons for pursuing the Master’s degree in psychology. A current resume.

    School Overview

    Mercy College is a four-year private school located in Dobbs Fairy, New York. Mercy College was established in 1950 by the Sister of Mercy. The school only admitted women until 1967, when the institution began to accept men.

    Mercy College offers certificates of completion associate’s degrees, bachelor’s degrees, master’s degrees, and doctorate degrees in over 90 programs. Classes are offered during the daytime, evening, and weekend. Online courses offer flexible class schedules for students who may have extra responsibilities. Mercy College students have the opportunity to take one or all of their courses online through the more than 40 undergraduate and graduate programs offered. Undergraduate academic programs include:
