Program Overview

The Associate in Applied Science Degree in Business Management at Mercer County Community College is a non-transferable degree program that prepares students for positions as retail sales managers, supervisors or general office managers. Students are able to customize their degree program by choosing courses that fit their individual interests and career goals. The Business Management concentration offers courses providing the knowledge and skills for students to understand the following: laws that directly affect business, principles of marketing to business, customer behavior, sales management, and management and leadership of an organization's human resources department. The Entrepreneurship concentration prepares students with the knowledge and skills needed to own and operate a small business. Selected courses for the Entrepreneurship concentration will focus on marketing, human resources, accounting, finance, software applications, and laws affecting small businesses.

Specific program courses offered at Mercer County Community College include,  Introduction to Business, Speech: Human Communication, Public Speaking, English Composition, Concepts of Health and Fitness, Office Accounting, Principles of Financial Accounting, Business Letter/ Report Writing, Principles of Management, Global Environment of Business, Office Accounting, Principles of Managerial Accounting, Basic Economics, and Computer Concepts with Applications. In total, students will complete 62-65 credit hours of course work in order to meet graduation requirements.

In terms of courses offered for the Management concentration--Business Law, Consumer Orientation, Employee Motivation and Leadership, Human Resource Management, Principles of Marketing, Principles of Retailing, Computerized Accounting, and Entrepreneurship are all optional courses.

    Mercer County Community College is a two-year public school located in West Windsor, New Jersey. MCCC was established in 1966 as a comprehensive educational institution that provides opportunities for higher education through an open-door admission policy.

    MCCC offers certificates of completion and associate’s degrees that allow students to transfer to senior colleges or universities upon graduation. Students may attend day, evening or weekend classes offered on the West Windsor Campus, the James Kerney Campus in downtown Trenton, or through MercerOnline.
