Program Details

The online Graduate Certificate in Academically Gifted Education program is an add-on to teacher certification.  The program provides educators with a solid background in integrated teaching methods, enabling them to encourage gifted students in any classroom setting.  Courses are:

  • Characteristics of Gifted Individuals 
  • Social and Emotional Needs of the Gifted
  • Methods for Teaching the Academically Gifted 
  • Creative Thinking and Problem Solving
  • An Elective


  • Requires 15 credits for completion
  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally-accredited U.S. institution or its foreign equivalent
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5 (4.0 scale) on all undergraduate work attempted or a minimum GPA of 2.75 on all upper-division course work attempted
  • Good academic standing at the last institution attended
  • Official copies of transcripts sent from each institution attended
  • Must hold a current valid teaching certificate
