McHenry County College
McHenry College's Accounting program provides students with a foundation for a future in the field of accounting. Accountants compile and analyze business reports and prepare financial statements for businesses such as balance sheets, profit and loss statements and tax reports. Accounting is a field that is constantly growing, and as procedures within the industry continue to become more complicated, well-educated accountants are in an increasingly high demand. Experts predict the field of accounting will experience a 10 percent increase in job opportunities over the next ten years. McHenry's Accounting program specifically focuses on qualifying students for jobs with accounting and bookkeeping firms, corporations, and government agencies. For those who may not have time for the full course load required for an Associate's Degree, McHenry offers a 36-credit Accounting Certificate.
The Accounting Certificate consists of 9 three-credit courses that can be completed in as few as three semesters. The Accounting Certificate differs from McHenry's Associate Accounting program in that it focuses entirely on accounting, cutting out General Education and General Business courses. Recipients of the Accounting Certificate can expect to be qualified for a wide variety of positions in the field, such as Budget Analyst, Auditor, Financial Examiner, Credit Analyst, and Tax Examiner.
