Massasoit Community College
Massasoit Community College offers an Associate Liberal Arts Transfer Elementary Education Degree for students interested in taking the first step in pre-service teacher preparation.
Students will be able to enter the Massachusetts State College or university Elementary Education program once they have complete the general education courses and two education-specific courses. Students will be able to enter as juniors after they have completed the Elementary Education Transfer Compact requirements.
To begin teaching at the elementary level students must first complete the associates degree program at Massasoit Community College. Next, students will need to transfer to a four-year degree granting institution to acquire a bachelor’s degree and a teaching certificate. The Massasoit Elementary Education program has made transitioning easier into four-year colleges and universities in the area. These institutions include Bridgewater State University, UMass, Dartmouth and others in the transfer compact.
The Elementary Education Associates degree is a unique option for students who wish to receive high-quality, cost-efficient education. Many professional that benefit from this program include teaching assistants, teachers aides and entry-level college students. The course curriculum works by addressing topics that will be covered in the Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure. This way, students will be prepared for each test the students will need to take.
Once students have completed the Liberal Arts Studies Elementary Education degree program, they will obtain a wide range of knowledge that will help them excel in their future career paths. These include being able to demonstrate learning in educational philosophy and history. They will have and be able to demonstrate skills in the Liberal Arts. They will also be culturally responsive and effective educational pre-practitioners.

Massasoit Community College is a two-year public school located in Brockton, Massachusetts. The school was founded in 1966 and was named for the Massasoit, the Great Sachem of the Wampanoag. MCC has three campuses, which are located in Brockton, Canton, and Middleboro.
Massasoit Community College offers certificates of completion and associate’s degrees. Classes are offered during the daytime, evening, and weekend. Online courses are offered to provide flexibility and convenience to students who may not be able to come to the MCC campus. Courses are instructor-led and follow the same semester schedule as face-to-face courses.
