Program Overview

Marshall University offers a Leadership Specialist area in the Master of Arts in Leadership Studies degree designed for inpiduals working in non-profit and government agencies.  Similarly this program is perfect for military service members since electives can be suited to meet their career needs.  Admission requirements include possession of an undergraduate degree with a GPA of 2.75 or higher from a regionally accredited institution as well as transcripts from all previously attended institutions.  If a student’s GPA was below 2.75 they may be admitted provisionally subject to department regulations.

The Leadership Specialist MA is a 30 credit hour program.  There are seven component courses which include: Human Relations, Human Resources Management, Community Relations, Leadership, Grant Writing, Externship, and Problem Report.  The student also selects 9 credit hours of elective courses in consultation with their advisor to increase their career-specific ambitions.  Applicants should keep in mind that this degree does not lead to school licensure.
