Program Overview

To earn a Management certificate from Manchester Community College, students must complete eight courses, totaling 24 credits, over a period of one year (based on full-time attendance status). The goals of earning this certificate are to further education for individuals already in an associated field, or prepare students for an entry-level job in a management position.

Students completing this program will take courses such as accounting and financial reporting I & II, management, business law I, human resource management and Microsoft computer Applications I. Two business electives (six credit hours total) are also required, and can be chosen from accounting, business, financial, management or marketing subjects.

Students are prepared for entry-level jobs in sales management, administrative service management, general management, and operations management, as well as some other management positions. This certificate can also be useful for an individual already in an associated field whom is looking for further education.

The program curriculum will train students for an overall general education in planning, organizing, and directing processes common in a firm or organization. Students will be taught purchasing and logistics, organization and production, marketing, human resources management, and other topics that are common in a management position.

All students, even ones that are earning this certificate for further education, should know that any management position requires people skills, a detail-oriented mind, and organization skills. This career or associated fields would not be the best choice for an individual who is reclusive, or doesn’t enjoy a high level of interaction with others.

    School Overview

    Manchester Community College is a two-year public school that is located in Manchester, New Hampshire. The school was founded in 1945 to provide technical training for returning veterans of World War II. After several names and three locations, Manchester Community College has become the second largest of the seven colleges within the Community College System of New Hampshire.

    Manchester Community College offers certificates and associate’s degrees. MCC's courses transfer to four-year colleges and universities in NH and across the U.S., so students often earn their associate’s degree from MCC and move on to a four-year college to earn their bachelor’s degree. As long as students have basic computer skills and Internet connection, they are able to enroll in any of the dozens of online courses available at MCC.
