Program Overview

A degree in Management means a student has skill in areas including finance, marketing, economics, computers, law and human resources. Manchester Community College offers students an Associates degree in Management over a two-year (or 66 credit hour) period.

Some courses included in the first year of the degree include Microsoft computer applications I, elementary algebra, macroeconomics and probability and statistics. In the second year, students will take more management-focused classes such as human resource management, organizational communications and marketing research. Some elective courses are also required: one business elective, one foreign language/humanities/fine arts elective and an English elective. All three classes must be worth 3 credit hours.

The topics taught in this course are necessary in all industry, non-profit, and service organizations. Management deals with planning, leading, monitoring, motivation, staffing and/or organizing duties. A future career could involve some or all of these subjects.

By graduating with a degree in Management, individuals will be able to display knowledge of fundamental business practices in accounting, marketing, human resources, computers, finance, economics and business law. They will also be able to effectively communicate in their field both orally and through writing, as well as understand and display the importance of business ethics.

MCC offers this as a two-year program, and states that their program mission is to prepare students for further education at a four-year college or university. The students will have a solid grasp of management and business basics when they enter the educational institution, or are employed in an entry-level management job.

    Manchester Community College is a two-year public school that is located in Manchester, New Hampshire. The school was founded in 1945 to provide technical training for returning veterans of World War II. After several names and three locations, Manchester Community College has become the second largest of the seven colleges within the Community College System of New Hampshire.

    Manchester Community College offers certificates and associate’s degrees. MCC's courses transfer to four-year colleges and universities in NH and across the U.S., so students often earn their associate’s degree from MCC and move on to a four-year college to earn their bachelor’s degree. As long as students have basic computer skills and Internet connection, they are able to enroll in any of the dozens of online courses available at MCC.
