The Madison Area Technical College has designed a Sales Academy Certificate program for students who are interested in sales and marketing. The certificate program’s goal is to strengthen student’s knowledge in marketing with a direct emphasis on the field of selling.  The program allows prospective students to register without applying to Madison Area Technical College.

Certificate program courses will be provided at the Truax Campus, though students may opt to take certain courses completely online. There will be four courses offered during the program: Selling Principles, Business to Business Sales, Retail Management and Sales Management. All classes within the program are three credits and a total of 12 credits are needed to complete the program successfully. Students must earn a grade of “C” for all certificate program courses and finish with a minimum GPA of 2.0.

Through the program courses, students will learn skills such as Negotiation, Territory Management, Consultative Sales and Relationship Building.  Program course education will emphasize areas such as concepts, skills, and theories on maintaining retail operations. Students will learn how to create a sales program and sales work force, how to motivate employees and make companies more focused on selling. Upon completion of the program students will be proficient in the steps of business-to-business interactions such as qualifying, pre-planning, contacting the potential customer, create and present the sales pitch, working through objections and closing out the sales deal.
