Program Overview

Macomb Community College offers an Associate of Arts in Pre-Social Work. In this program, you will take the introductory courses that will prepare you to advance through a social work program at a four-year college or university. You will be introduced to the social work profession and the factors that produced social welfare services. You will learn about the development and organization of human societies, psychology’s role as a behavioral science and public policy making and its relation to social services. You will also participate in a variety of service learning opportunities on class time that will introduce you to local programs serving those who are socially disadvantaged.

    School Overview

    Macomb Community College is a two-year public community college founded in Warren, Michigan in 1954. The college began as an extension of the traditional K-12 system at Lincoln High School as South Macomb Community College. In 1981, the name was shortened to Macomb Community College by its Board of Trustees.

    Macomb Community College offers students degree and certificate programs in multiple different locations throughout Macomb County. Distance learning and weekend/evening classes are available to students for convenience. Many students complete an associate degree at Macomb Community College before attending a four-year institution in order to save money.
