The Certificate in Business Management offered by Luzerne County Community College is a program of study that is intended for individuals who are looking to advance their careers by earning a professional certificate and increasing their marketability to both current and prospective employers. This program aims to prepare students to be able to apply principles of business management. A student who earns this certificate can then apply the skills and knowledge acquired through the course of this study to his or her current career or position.
Students should acquire valuable skills and knowledge related to business management in this program. By the end of this program, a student should be able to understand principles of business management and apply them to real world business situations, as well as learn applicable skills needed to function as a business manager. Students will also be given the opportunity to prepare various business documents in a simulated business environment, prepare financial statements, and to exhibit professional and ethical behavior in the analysis of real world business situations.
This program strives to equip its students with a foundational set of skills and knowledge related to business management. As this is a certificate program, not an Associate’s degree, a student is not required to take general education courses. However, a student is required to take 30 credit hours of courses in business and business management related courses. These required courses include: Principles of Accounting I and II, Human Resource Management, and Principles of Marketing I. Students are also required to choose electives in business and mathematics.

Established in 1967, Luzerne County Community College is a two-year public college located in Nanticoke, Pennsylvania, which offers associate’s degrees, certificates, and diploma programs. LCCC states a mission that promotes “excellence in education, fosters student success in achievement of goals, and positively impacts Luzerne county and the surrounding Northeastern Pennsylvania region." Courses are offered in classroom settings as well as in online learning. LCCC’s Distance Education program offers five associate degree programs online as well as several other courses. Each of these online courses consists of a minimum of 80% online content.
