Program Overview

Luther Rice College and Seminary offers a Master of Arts in Leadership that is well suited for students who wish to become leaders within organizations, businesses, or in other settings. Students will gain in-depth knowledge about team development, coaching, mentoring, assessing organizations, organizational cultures, conflict resolution, and much more. Individuals will be able to apply religious and leadership knowledge within a business setting. Graduates who earn this degree often work as Christian business personnel, church planters, ministry leaders, pastors, non-profit managers, executive administrators, staff developers, NGO directors, communications directors, missionaries, or in other related positions.
The Master of Arts in Leadership Program consists of 36 total credit hours. Students are required to finish required core courses in order to successfully complete the program. Core courses that students must complete include: Introduction to Research and Writing, Leader and Follower Theory, Organizational Communication, Foundations of Leading and Following, Organizational Culture, Leader and Follower Development; Assessing Organizations, Strategic Planning, Conflict Resolution; Teams Development, Coaching and Mentoring, Leading in Global Contexts, and a Leadership Practicum. Courses that are offered through this program are expertly crafted to ensure that graduates will be knowledgeable, competent, and well rounded while working as leaders within various environments.

Courses for this program are available online. This online learning environment provides flexibility for enrolled students who are employed or have other obligations. Students must be highly disciplined to complete a large amount of coursework. Time management, a reliable Internet connection, and word processing skills are very important for students who enroll in this degree program.

    Luther Rice University and Seminary (LRU) is a member of the Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools (TRACS), having been awarded reaffirmed status as a Category IV institution by the TRACS Accreditation Commission on November 28, 2005; this status is effective for a period of ten years.

    School Overview

    Luther Rice College and Seminary is a private, four-year Baptist institution located in Lithonia, Georgia. The school’s mission statement is “to provide theological education for Christian ministers and leaders around the world with an end to granting undergraduate and graduate degrees.” The educational experience offered is designed to “instill biblical core values essential to excellence in Christian ministry and leadership.” In mid-1962, the State of Florida granted a charter for a seminary to be placed in Jacksonville, Florida, and Luther Rice University was created. In 1991, the Seminary moved from Jacksonville to Lithonia, Georgia. The name of Luther Rice Seminary was changed in 2004 by the action of the Trustees to Luther Rice University.

    Luther Rice awards bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate degrees. Students can earn a degree exclusively through online studies, through traditional classroom format, or in a hybrid format. Almost 300 online courses are offered per year, which are delivered through secure servers using Blackboard and standard Internet connections.
