Doctor of Ministry
Luther Rice College and Seminary offers a Doctor of Ministry that is well suited for students who wish to fulfill a rewarding life in ministry. Students will gain in-depth knowledge on ministry, the Bible, preaching, ethics, counseling, leadership, and much more. Individuals will be able to use their knowledge in a church setting or within other related environments. Graduates who earn this degree often work as senior pastors, Christian authors, theologians, professors, non-profit directors, executive administrators, teachers, college deans, missions agency leaders, directors, or in other related positions.
The Doctor of Ministry Program consists 30 total credit hours. Students are required to finish required core courses in order to successfully complete the program. Required core courses that students must complete include: Research and Writing, Advanced Biblical Exposition, Leadership Development for the 21st Century, Critical Issues in Ministry; Contemporary Preaching, Church Evangelism in the 21st Century, Advanced Biblical Counseling, Interpersonal Relationships and Conflict Resolution, and Christian Ethics. Students must then complete a doctoral research project and present an oral defense of their research project. Courses that are offered through this program are crafted to ensure graduates will be knowledgeable, competent, and well rounded while working in churches and in other related environments.
Courses for this program are available online. This online learning environment provides flexibility for enrolled students who are employed or have other obligations. Students must be highly disciplined to complete a large amount of coursework. Time management, a reliable Internet connection, and word processing skills are very important for students who enroll in this degree program. Students who wish to be admitted to this program must have earned the 90 credit-hour Master’s degree theology hours with a minimum 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale).
