Bachelor of Arts in Religion/Biblical Counseling Minor
Luther Rice College and Seminary offers a Bachelor of Arts in Religion with a Bible Counseling Minor that is well suited for students who wish to enhance their biblical knowledge. Students will gain in-depth knowledge of writing, communications, theology, the bible, sociology, ethics, literature, philosophy, and more. Individuals will be fully prepared to work in counseling positions in churches or other related establishments. Graduates who earn this degree can expect to find rewarding employment in churches or religious counseling centers. Individuals often work as church counselors, associate pastors, Christian educators, community care pastors, outreach pastors, ministry staff, pastors, or in other religious related positions.
The Bachelor of Arts in Religion with a Bible Counseling Minor program consists 120 total credit hours. Students are required to finish general education courses, ministry preparation courses, biblical studies major courses, biblical counseling minor courses, and elective courses. Biblical studies courses that students must complete include: Biblical Interpretation, Personal Evangelism, Spiritual Formation, Church History, New Testament Survey, Life of Christ, Acts, Revelation, Old Testament Survey, Genesis, Survey of Theology I, Survey of Theology II, and Christology. Biblical counseling minor courses include: Introduction to Biblical Counseling, Methodology in Biblical Counseling, Theological Foundations in Biblical Counseling, Biblical Counseling in Ministry, Principles of Sociology, and Marriage and Family Counseling.
Students may participate in these program courses through an online format. This allows for flexibility for those who are employed or have other obligations. It is suggested that students have well-developed time management skills in order to complete assignments on time and study course material.
