Program Details

Luna Community College offers an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Military Studies. This degree is well suited for individuals who desire a career in the military. Graduates of this degree will have gained skills in leadership, communication, teamwork, and decision making. Students will be able to effectively communicate, apply knowledge of the armed forces, understand military planning, and be aware of the military’s true purpose of preserving peace. Earning an A.A.S. Degree in Military Studies is a great way to jumpstart a student’s military career and knowledge within the field.

The A.A.S. Degree in Military Studies program requires a minimum of 61 credit hours that has the capability to be completed in at least two years. Credit hours include general education core courses, program related courses, and elective courses. Students will be required to complete 31 general education core credit hours. General education course topics students will explore include communications, mathematics, fine arts, and sciences. Program related courses students are required to complete consist of 21 credit hours. Program related courses include topics such as military professionalism, introduction to military literature, military leadership theory and practice, American military history, military instructional methods, military theory, and a military capstone. Electives are also needed for enrolled students to receive their degree. Students must pick 9 credit hours from topics such as military leadership, military tactics and strategies, military camp training, military history, and military internship.

Due to the primarily online learning environment used for this program, students should have basic computer skills and a reliable internet connection.  This online learning environment provides flexibility for enrolled students who are employed or have other obligations.
