School Librarian Graduate Certificate Program

Program Details

Louisiana Tech University offers a School Librarian Graduate Certificate for students interested in supporting a school’s curriculum and assisting with student information literacy.  Acquiring this certificate will further a student’s skills and knowledge on information access which will enhance them as professionals while in this librarian field.  A student enrolled in the certificate program must register for certificate completion at the beginning of the quarter when certificate requirements are completed. This program is well suited for individuals already in this career field or who plan to enter this career field.

The School Librarian Graduate Certificate Program consists of 18 credit hours. Courses that are required include Books and Materials for the Young Adult, Introduction to Reference Materials and Service, School Library Administration, Acquisition and Organization of Library Materials, Literature for Children, and Library Science Practicum.

Courses completed at another institution may not be transferred into the School Librarian Graduate Certificate Program. All courses for this program are available online and can be finished in at least one semester. This online learning environment allows students to have a flexible experience and keep their employment status while working towards this certificate.
