Program Overview

Louisiana Tech University offers a Bachelor of General Studies Degree which is well suited for students who want to receive a broad-based education rather than a specific major. Students are able to customize their degree in order to lead them to specific educational goals based off of their interests and needs. Students who wish to have any previous credits integrated into the program and count towards their General Studies Bachelor degree should submit an unofficial transcript to the program coordinator for evaluation. It is recommended to submit this transcript well in advance to ensure the transcript is evaluated on time.

This program consists of a minimum of 123 credit hours and can be completed on a full-time or part-time schedule. General Education Requirement topics include English, math, computer literacy, natural sciences, arts, humanities, history, and various other topics. Students will take 24 credit hours from the Humanities, Social Sciences, and Business concentrations to complete the degree. Electives are also part of the curriculum requirement. Students are not required to have any college credits in order to begin this degree. In order to accommodate the different preferences of students, many online classes are available through Mayville State; this allows students to have a flexible experience while working towards the degree.
